MacBook Pro 2011 upgraden: Mein Early 2011 MacBook Pro hat sich über die letzten 5 Jahre mehr als bezahlt gemacht. Wenn ich zurück blicke, was es alles geleistet hat und wie viele Betriebsstunden es mittlerweile sein müssen bin ich einfach nur begeistert. Und vor allem, es leistet noch immer! Die 2011er MBPs gehören zur 2. Generation und sind mit die letzten Modelle, welche vor der 3. Generation (Retina MBPs) auf den Markt kamen. Das Schöne an diesem 2011 MacBook Pro ist, dass man es sehr krass upgraden kann!
Upgrade auf 16 GB RAM?
Kurz, ja das ist möglich. Man kann in das Early 2011 MacBook Pro 16 GB RAM installieren. Dazu braucht man einfach nur 2 8GB Riegel. Ich habe diesen RAM gekauft. Schön dabei, die erhöhte Taktzahl von 1600 MHz wird angenommen. Vorher hatte das MBP nur 1333 MHz.
SSD Upgrade
Wer das MBP seiner Zeit nur mit einer HDD gekauft hat, der kann diese ohne Probleme durch eine SSD ersetzen. Dieses Upgrade kann ich nur wärmstens empfehlen. Jeder der ein Upgrade von HDD auf SSD schon einmal mitgemacht hat, weiß was das bedeutet. Es ist so, als würde man einen neuen Rechner bedienen der unendlich Power hat. Natürlich muss man dann OS X neu installieren. Also vorher Time Maschine Backup machen! Aber man kann kein Upgrade machen, welches die Leistung mehr steigern würde.
Ich habe meine 256GB (System)SSD durch eine neue 512GB SSD ersetzt. Nach über 5 Jahren OS X neu aufsetzen macht sich definitiv auch in der Performance bemerkbar!
Highlight: Eine weitere Festplatte! Schmeiß das optische Laufwerk raus!
Wer jetzt noch die Kirsche auf der Sahne platzieren will, der kann das optische Laufwerk ausbauen. Mal im Ernst, wer braucht das noch? Schließlich ist es auch in einem neuen MacBook Pro schon gar nicht mehr verbaut. Und wer sich davon nicht trennen kann, der kann sich ein Adapter Kit + Caddy für das optische Laufwerk bestellen. Über das Adapter Kit selbst lässt sich da eine HDD mit viel Speicherplatz einbauen. Jetzt könnte man natürlich auf die Idee kommen, an Stelle einer HDD eine SSD zu verbauen. Hier muss ich leider die Euphorie bremsen. Der SATA Port ist nicht vollwertig. Optische Laufwerke brauchen keine hohen Datenübertragungsraten. Deswegen würde eine SSD nicht auf Leistung kommen. Leider.
Folgendes Adapter Kit mit dieser HDD von Samsung habe ich bestellt. Bei der HDD habe ich einfach auf eine lange Lebenszeit geachtet.
MacBook Pro 2011 upgraden, was brauche ich?
Abgesehen von den Komponenten zum Wechsel braucht man ein wenig Zeit, Platz und das passende Werkzeug. Auf iFixit.com findet man für alle Upgrades Anleitungen. Weil ich mittlerweile ziemlich viel an MacBooks jeglicher Art rumschraube, habe ich mir ein Werkzeug-Set mit allen Bits die man für Apple-Produkte braucht gekauft.
