Jetzt ist es passiert. Ich gebe nach einem Jahr meine Apple Watch weg. Der Grund hat nichts mit den technischen Eigenschaften oder Fähigkeiten zu tun, sondern ist einfach nur eine Frage des Geschmacks und der Vorliebe. Dafür kann die Apple Watch nichts, sie kann aber auch nichts dagegen tun.
Im Gegensatz zu Marc, kann ich auch alles mit meinem iPhone machen.
Was ist passiert?
Eigentlich nicht viel. Nachdem ich die Apple Watch im letzten Frühjahr gekauft hatte, lernte ich schnell ihre positiven Eigenschaften zu schätzen. Das kurze „Ich bin gleich da“-Telefonat im Knight Rider Style oder die Einblendung, dass auf dem Weg nach Hause kein Stau zu erwarten ist, sind tolle Features.
Whats Apps, Nachrichten und Eilmeldungen per Vibration als PUSH an einem selbst, können langweilige Meetings erheitern. Subtile Antworten wie ja, nein oder bis gleich sind möglich.
Auch das Aufzeichnen der eigenen Aktivitäten helfen dabei zumindest über weitere Aktivitäten am selben Tag nachzudenken. Ich gebe zu, dass ich diesen Punkt wahrscheinlich am meisten vermissen werde. Aber dieses lässt sich über ein Fitnessarmband von Jawbone oder Fitbit auch hervorragend lösen. Dafür muss es nicht die Apple Watch oder generell eine SmartWatch sein.
Die Apple Watch über Nacht ans Ladekabel zu hängen empfand ich auch nicht als lästig. Daran konnte hatte man sich schnell gewöhnt.
Style over Substance
Style over Substance wenn man so will. Bei allen technischen Gimmicks kann meine Apple Watch eines nicht. Sich optisch anpassen und die Eleganz einer normalen analogen Uhr annehmen. Auch bei allen Variationsmöglichkeiten bleibt sie am Ende des Tages ein technisches Gerät, welches die Uhrzeit anzeigen kann. Leider.
Und diese fehlende Eleganz hat mich persönlich irgendwann so genervt, dass es gekommen ist, wie es kommen musste. Die nächste schöne analoge Uhr wurde gekauft und seitdem auch getragen. Die Entwöhung von allen technischen Gimmicks ging schneller, als ich dachte. Den Hauptgrund dafür sehe ich im Smartphone. Es ist stets dabei und kann deutlich mehr als die Smart Watch. Im Endeffekt kann man sagen, dass ein technisches Gerät vollkommen ausreichend ist.
Die Smartwatch ist einfach kein Accessoire welches man zu seinem persönlichen Style hinzufügen kann. Spätestens bei einem Anzug ist Schluss. Die Apple Watch verkörpert immer einen sportlichen Style den sie auch durch das Wechseln von Bändern leider auch nicht einfach ablegen kann.
Und mal ehrlich, warum muss ich alle Funktionalität (bis auf das Fitness-Tracking) doppelt bei mir haben?
